As early action and early decision deadlines drew closer, the Staples High School class of 2017 worried about more than just applications. For most seniors, since this past Oct. 31 will have been the last Halloween spent in Westport before pursuing post-graduation plans next fall, they made sure to boast their most creative costumes while also reflecting on this bittersweet milestone.

I love fall. The leaves are falling, apples are growing, pumpkin spice is taking over, but most importantly, it’s time to take the autumn clothes out of the closet and flaunt them.
Vests: Oh, this old thing? Vests are a classic. They can be worn over anything. Short sleeves, long sleeves, sweaters and more. Vests can be a nice addition when you don’t want to wear a sweatshirt over your long sleeve. It’s the perfect thing to wear while on a walk in the park or strolling around the streets of New York City. Sweaters are easy and fun and go with almost everything, and are essential to your fall wardrobe.
Boots: Short, tall, army or rider, any kind of boots are a necessity for fall. While sneakers are cool and comfortable, walking around in a nice pair of boots gives you a confidence you never knew you had. Pair any boots with jeans or leggings and you take your look from being “casual” to “ready for a night out.” Fall is the perfect time to wear these bad boys. Winter is too cold and snowy and spring is too warm. Fall is the perfect time to bust out the leather boots and show them off.
Ripped Jeans: “Did you actually buy those jeans like that?” is a common question I get when I wear my ripped jeans, and my response is always, “Yes, it’s the style.” While some may think these are inappropriate or too much skin is showing, these jeans are just another way for people to express themselves. It is too cold to wear shorts in fall, yet too hot to wear those heavy sweatpants, so ripped jeans are a happy medium. Jeans provide women with a sense of class but also pair jeans which have rips up the whole leg with little black boots and your ready for a girls night. Other jeans only have one or two rips, making it obvious but not too obvious.
