Missed the first round of Rihanna’s Puma collaboration back in September? Chances are, if you weren’t at New York Fashion Week, or up at 12 AM constantly refreshing the page, you missed it. Rihanna’s debut line of shoes for Puma was sold out within hours.
Luckily, Rihanna just released a revamp of her collection... which sold out even faster than the first round.
The shoe was restocked at 12AM Friday, Nov. 12 in more sizes, as well as new colors. Originally released in classic black/white and black/oatmeal, alternative colors such as a coral and green combo, a two toned blue style, and classic winter white have also been released.
Rihanna first signed on as Puma’s creative director and brand ambassador in December of 2014. But this would mean much more than a few sneaker designs: it was the beginning of Puma’s revamp as a brand. Rihanna's partnership put Puma back on par with the big two- Adidas and Nike.
"IT'S GREAT TO FIND A BRAND THAT CELEBRATES STRENGTH AND INDIVIDUALITY."
It was only a matter of time before competing brands made their rebuttal. Nike fired back with sleek styles like the Nike Roshe and a handful of completely white sneakers that if you squint just enough, can pass for a pair of Adidas Superstars.
But Puma came out of nowhere. Often dismissed as second to the big two, Puma took a leap and pounced on the opportunity to take over the top spot.
And with all the publicity, and every combination of colors and sizes sold out in just hours, it looks like Puma has succeeded.
Taking a basic, practical brand and giving them a boost into the world of athletic-fashion, BadGalRiRi has wowed us once again.
