While most other girls may be prancing into the sunset showing off their stilletos and sandals, I am knee deep in the sand rocking my high tops.
Sneakers have always been my choice of shoe. Whether I’m wearing shorts and a tee-shirt, or going out to a fancy restaurant in a getaway destination, sneakers have always been my friend, and because of this, I’ve come to call myself a sneakerhead.
Now I know what you must be thinking. How can a girl be a sneakerhead when it’s always the guys obsessing over the latest pair of Air Jordans? Well, trust me on this one. Girls too can be sneakerheads.
Like these, most of these shoes are ones that will catch your eye. They are hard to miss, and very fun to wear. The patterns and designs feed to any girl looking for a little bit more flare than their normal Nike sneakers, and sure have made an impact on the culture of sneaker wearing.
In ancient times, sandals were traditionally worn by women, being seen as attractive to men. Now, sandals have become less of an attraction, and sneakers have taken their place. Fashionistas all around the globe have gone from flips to sneaks.
Lately, there have been more and more companies releasing sneakers aimed towards those fashion forward ladies. I’ve fallen into their trap one too many times (or not enough times).
While companies like Vans, Supergas and Adidas may have created the styles first, high-end brands like Michael Kors and Marc Jacobs have jumped on the bandwagon of selling these demanding sneaks.
